Descripción de la actividad:
After watching the video, I asked my pupils some questions:
Do men and women earn the same salary for the same job?
Why do people sometimes find it difficult to find a job?
Do you know why some clothes you buy are very cheap?
Some of the answers to these questions were:
Women get paid less than men all over the world. Sometimes people don't have the necessary skills or training to find a good job.
Governments should invest in education. In many countries girls can’t attend school, so when they grow up they can’t get a good job.
Clothes are cheap because they are imported from countries where people have low salaries and have no legal protection.
Dificultades encontradas y resultados finales.
As I spoke in English, my pupils requested me to repeat the questions or use their mother tongue. So I sometimes had to translate the questions into Spanish.
Evaluación.
It is positive because pupils understood that employment is a way to escape poverty and besides many people, despite having a job, do not have enough income to have a decent life. Women, especially immigrants, and young people face the most difficulties in obtaining quality employment. So governments must focus on increasing productivity, labor rights and secure working environments, equal pay for work of equal value, for instance.
